In synchronized swimming, Giovana Stephan was chosen as the soloist who will represent the country at the World Championships. The red-and-black athlete is confident that the team will repeat its feat at the Brazil Open, where it finished the competition ahead of its biggest rivals, the United States and France.

"The World Championships are the most important competition of the year. The goal is to reach the final, both in the team and on the floor, repeating last year's feat, when I was the first Brazilian finalist in a synchronized swimming World Championships. I think I have what it takes, because since then I've evolved and improved my technique," said the athlete who will perform to the sounds of Janis Joplin and Catwoman.

\

"We want to beat France, the United States, but especially Mexico, since this year's Pan American Games will be in Guadalajara," he added.

Sisters Manuela, Cecília, and Marina Canetti were the red-and-blacks called up to the Brazilian water polo team. The girls, homegrown talent and standouts, debut on July 17th against the strong Russian team. Brazil is in Group C, along with Germany and Spain.
