On Thursday and Friday (18), Lorena Molinos and Maria Clara Lobo, Flamengo's athletes in the Brazilian Olympic synchronized swimming team, competed in Rio de Janeiro, respectively, in the technical team and free routine events, with the themes Bikers and Carnival. With the sum of the scores, the team finished in sixth place, with 171.9985.
In the team event, the girls scored 84.7985 points (25.500 for execution; 25.8000 for artistic impression; 33.4985 for elements), achieving the sixth highest score and surpassing the score achieved at the Kazan World Championships (82.937) in 2015. In the free event, they earned 87.200 points, the highest score they have had so far, totaling 171.9985 points and finishing in sixth place. Russia, China and Japan took the gold, silver and bronze medals.
In addition to Lorena and Maria Clara, Dudu Calçada, Flamengo's youth football physiotherapist, represented the club on the synchronized swimming coaching committee.
