With the red-blacks Lorena Molinos, Maria Clara Lobo and Giovana Stephan, the Brazilian synchronized swimming team ended, on the night of last Saturday (19), its participation in the South American Aquatic Sports, at the National Aquatic Center, in Asunción, Paraguay.

The girls won everything they competed in: Brazil won gold in the Olympic duet and team events, and in the non-Olympic events, solo, free combined routine (combo) and the debuting mixed duet - which is now just an exhibition sport and should only be included in the competition program at the 2018 Games.

The final day of competition featured the free routine team event. With the theme "Carnival," the Brazilians scored 81,4333 points, leaving the Colombians in second with 78,5000. In the combined free and technical routines, Brazil won with 161,7082 points. Silver and bronze went to Colombia (155,4431) and Argentina (151,7484). Brazil's free team featured Flamengo athletes Lorena Molinos and Maria Clara Lobo (pictured left) as reserves. In the combined team, Lorena, Maria Clara, and Giovana—who also debuted the mixed duet—swam. The Brazilian delegation also included another representative from the Gávea club: Dudu Calçada, a physiotherapist for Flamengo's youth soccer team and the CBDA.

The synchronized swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo receive funding from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR). The renovation of the Gávea Olympic pool is supported by investments from Lafarge and Ambev via the State Sports Incentive Law/State Secretariat of Sports, Leisure and Youth (ICMS), in addition to funds from the Agnelo Piva Law/Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC).
