With an eye on the South American Championships, the Brazilian Artistic Swimming Team trains in Gávea
Flamengo welcomes athletes to its pool who will compete in the competition in Lima, Peru
By Romulo Paranhos - inThis week, Flamengo is hosting athletes from the Brazilian Artistic Swimming Team at the Gávea pool, who will participate in the South American Championship in the category, held between October 31st and November 04th, in the city of Lima, Peru.
The red-black athletes who were called up to represent Brazil in the South American Championship are: Maria Clara Lobo, Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Gabriela Teixeira, Jaddy Portela, Laura Miccuci, Júlia Catharino, Maria Eduarda Miccuci and Renan Alcântara.
Roberta Perillier, coach of Mais Querido and the Brazilian National Team, highlighted the importance of training between the red-black athletes and the other swimmers that make up the Brazilian team.
"Having the Brazilian National Team training at Flamengo is incredibly important. It's an opportunity for younger athletes to observe the country's senior team training, allowing them to pay close attention to every detail of their choreography and the dynamics of their races. The National Team is usually made up of swimmers from other clubs, so it's easier to see their skills. So, I think it's always interesting to have an experience like this," said Beta.
It's worth noting that Flamengo athlete Gabriela Regly was cut from the Brazilian team after fracturing four vertebrae in a domestic accident. She has already begun treatment and will soon be back training in Gávea.
The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
