The Most Beloved will be well represented at the World Aquatics Championships. The competition, which will take place from July 14th to 31st in Budapest, Hungary, marks the debut of the first Brazilian mixed duet. The red-and-black duo of Renan Alcântara and Giovana Stephan is preparing for this historic moment in national synchronized swimming. 

On the eve of this unique moment, the athletes spoke a little about this milestone in the history of the sport.

"It will be the first time that Brazil will take part in the mixed duet, something new, something that will make your eyes shine. This will be the second World Cup with a mixed duet, we want to show that Brazil is a powerhouse, so expectations are very high," said Giovana.

"Being a pioneer in Brazil's mixed duet is a tremendous, daily responsibility. Being part of the history of Brazilian synchronized swimming and being able to represent my country is unique," celebrated Renan.

About to compete in his first World Cup, Renan showed his excitement about participating in the duet with Giovana.

"Expectations are very high. This will be my first world championship, and I'm very happy to be swimming alongside Giovana, who was the person who brought me back to the sport and teaches me a lot every day. She motivates me a lot," he said. 

Finally, Giovana spoke about preparing for the competition.

"We've been preparing since 2015, but we've been focused on the World Championships since January. We have new choreography, new elements, and we're training hard to do the best we can," the athlete emphasized.

The competition will also feature the presence of red-and-black athletes Maria Eduarda Miccuci and Maria Clara Coutinho, who will represent the Brazilian team and Mais Querido in the women's duet.
