The Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park, in Gávea headquarters, hosted this Saturday the first day of competitions in the FARJ Winter State Artistic Swimming Tournament.  

Flamengo, Tijuca Tênis Clube, and Nado Arte (MG) participated in the competition in the senior and youth categories. Competing at home, the Mais Querido won all of the day's events: senior free team (78.266), senior technical team (64.545), highlight team (79.400), junior mixed duet (Julia and Vitor Teixeira), junior free duet (Emily and Beatriz Amorim), and junior free solo (Jaddy Portela).

In the senior free solo, Maria Clara Lobo stood out. The red-and-black athlete delivered a beautiful performance that focused on the pandemic:

"It was the debut of this new choreography. I wanted to create a performance that addressed the current situation and raised awareness. It's still very difficult, and we'll need strength and unity to move forward," said the athlete.

In the mixed free duet, Gabi Regly and Bernardo Santos also did well and won first place:

"We're so happy to be able to compete again and do what we love. It feels like years since our last competition. Feeling this adrenaline is what drives us. Today is a day to celebrate," commented Bernardo.

The competition ends this Sunday. Starting at 8 a.m., the children's and junior categories will perform.

The biggest expectation will be the debut of the children's category. The team is made up entirely of scholarship recipients from the CONAFLA Project – Flamengo Artistic Swimming Parents and Friends Committee – which raised funds for children without financial resources but with the potential to become future athletes in the sport.


The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
