It's gold for Mengão! This Sunday (13), the red-and-black athletes shone in the Brazilian Virtual Tournament of Artistic Swimming Categories, promoted by the Brazilian Confederation of Aquatic Sports (CBDA). For the first time, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition took place virtually, being a new experience for the participants. Maria Clara Lobo, Jullia Catharino and Ana Clara Almeida won gold for Mais Querido, in the Senior, Junior and Youth categories, respectively.

One of the main names of the red-black team, Maria Clara Lobo commented on the importance of returning to competition, even in a different way than traditional.

"It was great because we were able to have a competition, albeit in a different format, but very similar to the Brazilian Championship we're used to. Having a championship this year helped a lot in terms of motivation, as did having a short-term goal, since this year was completely atypical. I enjoyed the experience, that we found a way to hold a safe competition, and, of course, I was very happy to have won gold," said the athlete.

It is worth noting that, in this competition format, the athletes recorded videos of their choreography and sent them to the CBDA, where the referees evaluated them through a virtual meeting.
