É Champion! The red-and-black artistic swimming teams won the State Technical Routine Championship, held last weekend (13th and 14th) at the Tijuca Tennis Club pool. The competition featured athletes from the Children's, Youth, Junior, and Senior categories.
In the Children's category, the "Mais Querido" team won gold in the Solo event, silver and bronze in the Duet event, and another silver in the Team event. In the Youth category, the red-and-black athletes secured silver in the Team and Duet events, as well as bronze in the Floor event.
The Junior team's swimmers also performed well, taking gold in all three events: Team, Duet, and Solo. In the Senior category, the main category, the Red-Black team secured first place in the Duet.
"I really liked the athletes' performance; they were energetic from start to finish and performed the mandatory elements well. Now we have to create a new choreography for the Brazilian Championships, because the youth and junior categories don't compete in technical routines, only in free routines and figure events," said Jéssica Noutel, the red-and-black coach.
In the overall championship standings, Flamengo finished in first place and took the title to Gávea.
The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
