Flamengo's victorious artistic swimming team showed, this Saturday (12), that the future of the sport is also promising. In the Figures Tournament, held in the Tijuca Tennis Club pool, Giovana Faria and Ana Clara de Almeida won gold in the Beginner Children's and Children's Level A categories, respectively.

Marina Valadão, coach of Mais Querido, celebrated the result.

"The championship was well contested. We won medals, but I think the most important thing was the team's technical growth compared to the 1st Tournament. The highlight goes to our Children's athletes who, for the first time, also competed in the Youth category," said the coach.

With a score of 56.8451, Ana Clara was the most efficient athlete, ahead of 12 swimmers from the State of Rio de Janeiro. Five other red-and-blacks competed in Level A: Nicole Shinohara placed sixth, with 53.9484 points; Thamirys da Conceição, in 8th (53.4930); Leonora Jareta, in 9th (53.3662); Giulia Duarte, in 10th (51.5775); and Emily dos Santos, in 11th (51.3521). This was Ana Clara's second gold medal in the 2018 championship. In the first Figures Tournament of the year, held in March, also at Tijuca TC, she climbed to the top of the podium.

In the Beginner Children's category, Giovana Faria obtained a score of 51.5538, the best among twelve athletes. Also from Mais Querido, Sofia Shinohara took fifth place, receiving 39.7436 points; Luiza Araújo in 8th (38.5846); Daniela Ferreira in 9th (38.1487); and Hannah Sukman in 11th (36.3231).
