Flamengo was crowned champion of the 2012 Brazilian Absolute Synchronized Swimming Championship, this Sunday (14.10), after scoring 930 points in the competition held at the Julio Delamare Aquatic Park, in Rio de Janeiro. With this title, the girls from Gávea are now five-time Brazilian champions, as it was their fifth consecutive victory in the competition.

The final events took place today (Sunday). In the free routine, Giovana Stephan, a red-and-black athlete, took silver with 85,3167 points. In the duet competition, Lorena Molinos and Giovana took second place with 81,8167 points.

In the free team event, the gold went to Flamengo, which scored 81,8500 points, followed closely by the Paineiras team, which came in second with 81,6333. The Fluminense team completed the podium with 76,1667 points.

Flamengo was the only team in the Combo competition. The red-and-black girls secured the title with 80,1167 points, followed by the Federal Technological University of Paraná team, which scored 56,000 points.

The competition brought together more than 50 athletes from eight participating teams, in addition to the Argentine national team, which was invited to participate in the event. The clubs were: Flamengo, Tijuca Tennis Club, Paineiras do Morumby, Fluminense, Technological University of Paraná, Military Circle of São Paulo, and BNB Fortaleza.
