The Maria Lenk Aquatic Park pool will host, starting this Thursday (01.12), the 12th Brazilian Absolute Synchronized Swimming Championship, a competition that will bring together the main athletes of the sport that won the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

With six clubs participating, the Brazilian Absolute Championship will be held in two periods (morning and afternoon) until next Saturday, December 3rd, with performances in technical (duet, solo and team) and free (duet, solo, team and combo) events. The competition concludes the 2011 calendar for athletes in the adult category.

A regular on the Brazilian national team and one of the club's standout performers, Lorena Molinos will compete in the duet, team, and combination events. In addition to the athletes who won bronze for Brazil in Guadalajara, the competition will also feature South American youth champions, such as Beatriz Regly, from the red-and-black team.

"We're going to fight for the title of four-time champion and, God willing, we'll achieve it," commented coach Roberta Perillier, during training in the Gávea pool.
