The first day of competition at the Brazilian Artistic Swimming Championship, held at the Julio Delamare Aquatic Park, began with medals for Mengão. 

To the tune of Linkin Park's "In the End," Bernardo Santos and Jaddy Milla won silver in the senior technical mixed duet. With a beautiful performance, they received 71.581 votes, second only to the Fluminense duo. 

In the women's solo event, Luzia Galvez, who made her debut as the lead soloist in the junior category, secured a silver medal with a score of 71.8672. 

Bernardo Santos returned to the water to compete in the men's technical solo. The red-and-black athlete delivered a performance that perfectly combined technical routine and artistic elements, earning him another silver medal.  

"Being at Flamengo has made all the difference. This nation has incredible strength, and I'll be back tomorrow to go for gold on free soil," said the Paraíba native, who came alone from Paraíba to live in Rio de Janeiro three years ago.

Closing the first day of competition, the senior technical duo, formed by Laura Micucci and Gabriela Regly, who celebrated her birthday on the day, gave an impressive performance and secured second place in the first part of this competition with 76.4209 points.

"It was a good start to the competition. Friday is the final day, and we're going for the medal," concluded Gabi Regly. 


The scores obtained today are added to those of the Free Duet, which will take place on Friday (18) and will define the champion pair.

The competition runs until Saturday at the Julio Delamare Water Park. 

This Thursday, starting at 9 am, the junior technical team, junior men's technical solo, senior women's technical solo, junior technical mixed duet, senior technical team and senior free mixed duet events will be held.
