Flamengo won a bronze and a silver medal in the III Children's Figure Tournament (under-12) of synchronized swimming, held at the Tijuca Tennis Club, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, last Saturday (21.09). Maria Clara came second, and Beatriz Moreira, third, in the competition that only included the individual event.
"It was a good result, despite the competition being empty, since only Flamengo and Tijuca participated. Our girls showed technical improvement, which shows that the work is being done well," said Roberta Perillier, Mais Querido's main synchronized swimming coach.
In the competition, the team, led by Marina Valadão, achieved three other strong results. Gabriela Lobo finished fourth, Maria Julia sixth, and Maria Luiza eighth.
The competition is so named because "figures" are sequences of technical elements of synchronized swimming. The red-and-blacks return to the pools on October 5th and 6th, when the State Championships for the Children's, Youth, and Junior categories will be held. The Carioca Championship and the Brazilian Absolute Championship (Adult category) will be held on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of the same month.
