The largest supplier of athletes for the Brazilian artistic swimming teams, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo renewed the contracts of eight senior athletes last Wednesday (03.03). They are: Laura Miccuci, who is part of the Brazilian Olympic Duet, Maria Clara Lobo, Gabi Regly, Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Duda Micucci, Vitoria Casale and Bernardo Santos.

The signing took place by the Rômulo Arantes pool, at the Gávea headquarters, and was attended by the coordinator of artistic sports Roberta Perillier and the vice president of Olympic sports Guilherme Kroll.

Having been at the “Most Beloved” for over 10 years and won many titles in her career, Maria Clara Lobo celebrated the fact that she could stay another season at the club, which she considers her home.

"Being able to do what I love most at my favorite club is a privilege. Flamengo is an extension of my home. My mission is to continue training and delivering good results for the club."

Laura Miccuci, a member of the Brazilian Olympic duo, who will be seeking a spot in Tokyo in May, is looking forward to a year of many achievements.

"Last year was a strange year; being away from competition is the worst thing for an athlete. 2021 will be the year of winning titles again and many achievements for Flamengo."

Representing the club in the men's category, Bernardo Santos, 20 years old, feels fulfilled to be able to represent the red-black team for another year.

"It's a great honor to be able to be in this pool, which is a reference for so many athletes. I'm full of energy for the season that's about to begin and I'll dedicate myself to the maximum to be able to repay all the affection I've received at the club."

Vice President of Olympic Sports Guilherme Kroll explained that artistic swimming is another sport the club is strengthening.

The red-and-black swimming team is intertwined with the Brazilian National Team. We're strengthening all disciplines, and artistic swimming couldn't be left out. This year, we'll shine 24/XNUMX in all sports. And in this pool, these girls and Bernardo are making it happen. We're on the right track."

Maria Clara Lobo, Gabi Regly, Duda Micucci and Vitoria Casale will travel to Argentina on March 14th where the South American Championships will be held.
