Flamengo athletes prepare for the Pan American Artistic Swimming Championships
The Brazilian team will have eight red-and-black athletes in the competition.
By Romulo Paranhos - inThe Brazilian Artistic Swimming Team will compete in the Pan American Championships in Riverside, California, United States, from August 6th to 12th. Brazil will bring eleven athletes to the competition, eight of whom are Flamengo fans, as well as coach Beta Perillier, who is also a member of Mais Querido.
The national team will feature the following athletes in the competition: Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Gabriela Regly, Maria Clara Lobo, Maria Eduarda Miccuci, Laura Miccuci, Jullia Catharino, and Renan Alcântara. According to coach Beta Perillier, the goal is to take advantage of the competition to prepare the team for the 2019 Pan American Games.
"We're looking forward to our debut. Our team hasn't participated in international tournaments since 2016. Let's say it's a return for the team, where we want to better evaluate our choreography and training to achieve a better placement at next year's Pan American Games," said the coach.
It is worth mentioning that the red-and-black athletes Renan Alcântara and Giovana Stephan were highlights in Brazil's mixed duet event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships and promise to fight for a medal in the competition.
The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
