The first international Brazilian synchronized swimming competition after the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games has already been set, and the "Mais Querido" (Best Loved) team will be represented in the pools. The South American Youth and Junior Aquatics Championships will take place in Colombia in April, and six Flamengo athletes have been pre-selected for the challenge. Laura Micucci, Gabriela Regly, and Rafaella Catharino, from the junior team, and Jullia Catharino, Jaddy Milla, and Maria Luiza Fonseca, from the youth team, can represent the country in the event and are already preparing to do well in the tournament.

 

The final squad for the championship – which will take place from April 17th to 30th in the city of Cali, in Valle del Cauca – will be announced next Saturday (March 11.03th). Although their participation has not yet been confirmed, all the red-and-black athletes, who are currently training full-time with the national team, are anxious and working hard to be ready for the competition.

 

Gabriela Regly, who participated in the 2015 South American Championships and took home gold in the team free routine, commented on how her preparation is going.

 

"Our expectations are always the highest. Brazil traditionally has good results in South American Championships. I've been doing synchronized swimming for ten years, and since then, the country has never lost a title in the competition. Our goal is to continue this favoritism," said the athlete.

 

The red-black team also commented on their expectations for the competition.

Brazil achieved its best result in history at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The Brazilian team included two athletes from the Mais Querido team, Brazilian champions Lorena Molinos and Maria Clara Lobo.
