Flamengo will have six athletes representing Brazil in competition in Rio de Janeiro
In the 2nd Brazil Synchro Open, the main Brazilian duet is formed by girls from Rubro-Negro
By Communication - Official Club Website - inSix Flamengo athletes will represent the Brazilian National Team at the 2nd Brazil Synchro Open synchronized swimming tournament, which will take place at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro. The event will take place from Friday (7.06) to Sunday (9.06). The girls are: Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Daniella Figueiredo, Jessica Noutel, Beatriz Regly and Gabriella Figueiredo.
The tournament will also feature teams from Spain, Canada, Ukraine, Argentina, and Austria. In the duet competitions, one of the two Brazilian pairs is made up entirely of red-and-blacks: Giovana Stephan and Lorena Molinos. The duo will perform the songs "Vivaldi's Summer" and "Gothic" in the free and technical competitions, respectively.
"The girls are debuting as a Brazilian duet. They started working last year, and now is a time of transition. It's difficult to say for sure if they'll win any medals, but I can say they're well-trained, and the choreography was created by a French coach who came to Rio de Janeiro," said Roberta Perillier, Flamengo's synchronized swimming coach.
The coach is Stephan Miermont. He was in Rio in April, participating in the International Synchronized Swimming Clinic. The Frenchman was the head coach of the United States team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He is also a choreographer for the renowned Cirque du Soleil and has created choreographies for the following national teams: Italy, England, Greece, South Korea, Czech Republic, China, Japan, and France.
