The year started off strong for the red-and-black synchronized swimmer. With a total of 84,6250 points, Giovana Stephan, one of the sport's standouts, secured the bronze medal for Brazil at the German Open in Bonn.

In the qualifiers, the red-black team won fifth place in the technical routine (choreography) (84,6061 points) and third in the free routine (84,1125). In the total, she ranked third, with 168,7186. In the final, Giovana reached 84,6250 points and secured the bronze medal, behind only the Greek Despoina Solomou, 89,0500, and the Italian Linda Cerruti, 84,6750.

Giovana Stephan has long been gaining ground and standing out among the top athletes on the Brazilian national team. In 2010, the Flamengo athlete secured the gold medal at the Italian Open and the silver at the Spanish Open. In 2011, Giovana became a four-time Brazilian champion alongside the other members of the Flamengo team.
