Swimmer Giovana Stephan closed out the 10th South American Games in Chile with a gold medal. In the free routine held last Friday (March 14), the red-and-black athlete and her duet partner, Luisa Borges, scored 82.2667 against their Argentine opponents' 81.6333. The girls performed the movement 'Primavera' from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, with choreography designed by Frenchman Stephan Miermont, who choreographed nine of the 12 finalist routines at the London Olympic Games.

Giovana, an experienced 26-year-old athlete with two Olympics under her belt, the Fla athlete praised her duet partner and the champion duo's reserve, Eduarda Micucci.

"It was the best swim of my life. We debuted very well and I feel like we're going to grow a lot together. I was impressed by the maturity of both of them (Luisa and Eduarda) despite their youth," said Giovana. 

Giovana has been training with Luisa for two months and the pair are thinking about changing the choreography for 2015. The current choreography has been performed by the Brazilian synchronized swimming team for two years.
