Flamengo was well represented at the World Aquatics Championships. Three of Flamengo's athletes shone in the waters at the Parque da Cidade pools in Budapest, Hungary. Maria Clara Coutinho, Giovana Stephan, and Renan Alcântara competed to represent the Brazilian national team and finished the tournament with a positive result. The events took place from July 14th to 22nd.

Initially, Giovana Stephan and Renan Alcantara's goal was to surprise. Sure enough, they did. In the duo's first major competition, having trained together for two years and having the opportunity to form the first mixed duet in the country's history at the World Championships, the athletes delivered two impressive performances. With the songs "Sleeping Beauty Ballet" and "Overture, Pas de deux, Waltz of Flowers," Giovana and Renan wowed the fans and, after advancing through the qualifying round, reached seventh place in the competition, the best finish in the Brazilian category in all editions of the championship.

"We really enjoyed it. Our goal in this final was to improve our score and get closer to 80, so we're pleased with the result. The theme is strong, and everyone knows and resonates with the song, so we chose it. We entered feeling confident and relaxed. We trained hard and were doing well before the event. Giovana stopped a butterfly before we entered; everything was conspiring to go well, and it did," Renan told the official website of the Brazilian Aquatic Sports Confederation.

"We're happy. We did everything we could, and it feels like a job well done. We enjoyed this event and the freestyle as well. There are other tense moments. In this event, the elements are the most tense, while in the freestyle, we're more concerned with the lifts and timing. I have experience from other World Championships, but it's always great to be among the best in the world and see this beautiful structure," said Giovana.

 In the other events, the Flamengo athletes performed well but narrowly missed out on the finals. Giovana Stephan placed 14th in the technical solo; Maria Clara Coutinho, who competed in the free solo, technical duet, and free duet events, placed 15th in all three. Maria Eduarda Miccuci, also a Flamengo player, was Brazil's reserve in the performances.
