Laura Miccuci, a Flamengo fan, will represent Brazil in the Artistic Swimming Pre-Olympic Championships, which will be held in March 2021 in Japan. The Mais Querido athlete will form the starting duo alongside Luisa Borges. After an evaluation conducted this weekend at the Tijuca Tennis Club in Rio de Janeiro, the duo earned the most points, according to the evaluations conducted by the FINA team of coaches and referees.

The athletes performed twice. On Saturday, they performed technical routines, where they demonstrated some of the movements established by the rules. On Sunday, the duets performed their free routine.

After evaluations conducted via Zoom by four coaches (two Brazilian, one Canadian, and one Russian) and five FINA judges (three Brazilian, one Argentine, and one Uruguayan), the duo of Laura and Luisa scored 70 points. The duo of Luisa and Maria Bruno finished with 56 points, and Laura and Maria Bruno with 45 points.

"I'm so happy to be called up! Since I entered to compete in the duet competition at last year's Pan American Games, I've been working hard and fighting for this spot. Now, seeing that my dream of competing in the Olympics is getting closer only motivates me even more. I'm very excited and focused on getting there at the best possible level and earning a spot," said Laura.
