Lorena Molinos, synchronized swimming athlete from CRFlamengo, won this Thursday (2/04), the first place in the Figures event of the South American Junior, which is being held in Mar Del Plata, Argentina.

Lorena scored 68,581 points and took first place on the podium, a one-two finish for the red-and-blacks. Maria Eduarda Pereira, also from CRF, came in second with 67,970.

In addition to the two athletes who reached the podium, the Brazilian team has three more red-blacks in the junior category and two in the youth category.

The Brazilian team performed well on the first day of competition. Maria Eduarda Cavalcanti finished fifth in the Figures event, with 66,641 points. Flamengo twins Gabriella and Daniella Figueiredo placed 10th and 13th, respectively, with 65,664 and 65,150 points.

In the youth category, the red-blacks Vivian Pereira and Carolina Menezes finished 13th and 16th, respectively.

The figure events count towards the other events in the discipline – solo, duet and team – with the exception of the free combination routine (combo). The South American Junior Championship will be held until Sunday (April 5th).
