Maria Clara Lobo wins the 2018 Brazilian Olympic Award
In an event held by the COB, the Mais Querido athlete wins as the best artistic swimmer of the year
By Romulo Paranhos - inTuesday night (18) was a night of much celebration, especially for an athlete from the red-black artistic swimmer. This is because the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) held, at the Bradesco Theater, in Rio de Janeiro, the 20th Brazilian Olympic Awards that honored the highlights of the year in each modality of Brazilian Olympic sports. And, as she has always been on the podium in all the competitions she competed in this year, the award for best artistic swimmer could not fail to go to the red-black Maria Clara Lobo.
"This is the second time I've won the award, and the excitement is just as great, if not greater. For athletes, receiving this knowledge is incredibly important. I was thrilled to end the year with this achievement!" said the red-and-black athlete.
In June of this year, Maria Clara won the silver medal at the South American Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia, in the Technical Duet competition. At the South American Artistic Swimming Championships, held in November in Peru, the red-and-black team also performed well, winning silver in the Free Routine event. And to end the year in style, at the Brazilian Championships in early December, Maria Clara Lobo took gold in the Free Solo and Free Team events, helping the Red-and-Black team win the competition title.
The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
