The Brazilian swimming team departs for Bolivia next Wednesday, May 30th. Until then, the athletes will continue their intense training routine at the club and at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro. On June 3rd, Maria will compete in the mixed duet competition, while the free duet competition will take place on the 5th.

"We've been training Monday through Saturday. Three days a week, we train in two shifts, and over the past month, we've increased the frequency of these twice-daily workouts to practically every day of the week. We've also switched our Sunday off to Saturday for the past two weeks, since we'll be competing on Sunday. We've been training for altitude in Bolivia since the beginning. We'll arrive there on the 30th and have three days of training to acclimate to the pool," commented the red-and-black.

Maria Clara Lobo was part of the freestyle and technical teams at the 2016 Rio Olympics, achieving the country's highest score in the discipline at an Olympic Games in history. That same year, she helped lead Flamengo to the top of the podium in the technical duet at the Brazilian Championships, alongside Lorena Molinos. For the Brazilian National Team, she was part of the duet at the World Championships in Budapest and the Santiago Open Championships in 2017.

Due to her performance during the season, Maria Clara was named the best athlete in the sport and received the Brazilian Olympic Award. The awards ceremony was held in March of this year.
