Every year, Flamengo's artistic swimming team is the largest supplier of athletes to the Brazilian national team. And this time was no different. Eight Mengão athletes have been training at Cefan since Monday (February 01.02st) with a view to the South American Championship in Argentina in March.

In the senior women's category, the selections were Laura Miccuci, Maria Clara Lobo, Gabriela Regly, Jullia Catharino, Vitoria Casale, Jaddy Mila Portela, and Luzia Galvez. Bernardo Santos will be part of the senior men's group. He is currently one of the top athletes in the sport in Brazil.

Having been in charge of Flamengo's artistic swimming team for 21 years and winning many titles during that time, Roberta Perillier, manager of artistic sports at Mais Querido, celebrated the call-ups.

"Our eight athletes are focused on the South American Championship and will be training directly with the Brazilian National Team. We always work here at Flamengo with the national teams in mind, so having eight of our 20 athletes from the club gives us great confidence that we're on the right track."


The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
