After the Synchronized Swimming events at the World Aquatics Championships in Rome, it was clear that the sport had evolved. This marked the highest number of finals the Brazilian team had ever reached in a FINA World Championship. Six finals were reached, with Giovana Stephan, an athlete from CRFlamengo, securing her first appearance in the final of the technical solo event, a historic achievement for Brazil. The Brazilian team, comprised mostly of Flamengo athletes, reached the finals of the technical, free, and combined routine events.

Mônica Rosas, CBDA's national team coordinator, assessed Brazil's participation in the World Championships as positive and satisfactory. "It was the first time the solo event reached a final. Considering that this is the first year of the new Olympic cycle and that we used the strategy of not using duet athletes on the team, I think it worked. The team managed to remain in the finals, although the score at the Melbourne World Championships was higher, we have to consider that the team is renewed. We have two junior athletes on the team. Now we will develop strategies for the 2011 Pan American Games and, who knows, qualify the team for the 2012 Olympic Games, if the rules allow for 12 teams."
