Flamengo's synchronized swimming team closed the year with a bang. After winning the Brazilian championship for the fourth time in the senior category earlier this month, the girls also gave a lesson in solidarity with a moving performance for the boys and girls of the Criança Esperança project. To top it all off, last Saturday (10.12/XNUMX), the pool at the Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park in Gávea was graced with a series of performances by the girls who are part of the team and even the team's sports academy.
After three days of competition between the main Brazilian athletes and clubs in the sport, at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, Flamengo was crowned champion, with 902 points, followed by Tijuca Tênis (489) and Fluminense (476).
The red-and-black team won the Free Duet and Technical Duet events, with Lorena Molinos and Giovana Stephan. The red-and-black team, made up of Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Jéssica Noutel, Marcela Pereira, Maria Eduarda Cavalcanti, Maria Eduarda Pereira, Joseane Martins, Camila Ururahy, and twins Gabriella and Daniella Figueiredo, also reached the top of the podium. In the Free Solo, Giovana Stephan took silver.
The champion girls, excited about their achievement, were at the Espaço Criança Esperanca in Pavão/Pavãozinho on Tuesday (06.12). They performed some choreography and brought a bit of sport to hundreds of boys and girls in the project. On Monday (05.12), the children were also able to participate in some activities with the Mirim basketball team, state champion in 2011. The celebration was another social action of Fla's Olympic Sport.
Synchronized swimming at Flamengo is coordinated by Brazilian national team coach Roberta Perillier and includes girls from six years of age who already know how to swim.
