Synchronized swimming does well in 2014
Athletes win medals and titles for Flamengo and the Brazilian National Team

The year ended well for the girls' synchronized swimming team. With the renewal of the youth categories, the team closed the season with great results, already looking ahead to next year's competitions, which begin in April. The girls' coach, Roberta Perillier, reviewed the season. "I would summarize 2014 as a year of change. There were technical changes in the FINA and CBDA rules, changes in the participation relationships of the athletes called up to the Brazilian National Team, among others. For our team, all of this was very beneficial, as it generated technical growth and investment in the youth categories. We maintained impressive results during the season, such as the Senior state title, and we are already looking forward to new developments for 2015," she said.
The year began with five red-and-black athletes joining the Brazilian Adult National Team. At the beginning of the season, the athletes were South American champions and won five medals at the Brazil Synchro Open. The standout was Giovana Stephan, who not only won team gold but also won gold in the duet events. The red-and-black athlete was named the best swimmer of the year at the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico, which showcased the country's top high-performance athletes. Giovana Stephan, along with Maria Clara Lobo, Lorena Molinos, and Jéssica Noutel, are the top prospects with a chance to represent Brazil at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Other swimming standouts this year included sisters Beatriz and Gabriela Regly, on the younger team. The two athletes represented Flamengo on the Junior National Team, performing well at the World Championships in their category and reaching the team final. With the World Championships over, Bia continued training, this time solo, for the Junior Pan American Championships, where she emerged with excellent results, finishing fourth. Still in the youth categories, which are undergoing renewal, the athletes showed they have a bright future ahead, winning gold medals in floor, duet, and team at a state tournament held in June.
To close out the year on a high note, the Adult team traveled to São Paulo for the Brazilian Absolute Championship in November, winning medals in every event. They successfully achieved their goal, winning three gold and three silver medals out of six. Twins Daniella and Gabriella Figueiredo took first place in the technical duet routine, as did Aline Viera and Júlia Campos, this time with the free routine. Joseane Martins also topped the podium in the technical solo. Maria Eduarda Wolf took silver in the free solo. The same medal won by the Combined Routine teams (composed of Daniela Figueiredo, Camila Ururahy, Maria Eduarda Werneck, Aline Vieira, Giovana Bueno, Julia Campos, Maria Eduarda Wolf, Laryssa Cierutti, Maithe Pedroni and Gabriella Figueiredo) and Free Team (integrated by Daniela Figueiredo, Camila Ururahy, Maria Eduarda Werneck, Aline Vieira, Giovana Bueno, Julia Campos, Maria Eduarda Wolf and Gabriella Figueiredo).
