Flamengo's artistic swimming team has received another reinforcement for the new season. Rebecca Rodrigues, the 2017 South American champion, joins the Flamengo squad, competing in the Junior category. Under the guidance of Roberta Perillier, she will also join the Brazilian national team, which will compete in the World Championships in Budapest in July. 

"This has been my first experience with Beta. I feel very happy with her, as she is always willing to help me perfect my movements and grow as an athlete and as a person. I am very grateful for the excellent welcome she, all the team members, and the Flamengo staff have given me," said the swimmer.

Rebecca joined the swimming school at age 12, a ripe old age for someone who competes. After rapid development, she competed in her first Brazilian championship as a beginner the following year. In 2017, she was called up to the national team for the first time and won the gold medal at the South American Championships. Now, the swimmer begins her career at Flamengo focused on further developing as an athlete. 

"I came to Flamengo looking for new challenges, to join a team that always seemed very close-knit, like a family, in addition to the benefits offered by the club, such as the scholarship at the school and the excellent structure. I intend to achieve great results and grow even more with the teachings of Beta and my teammates. Besides all that, I'm a Flamengo fan and it's a great joy to be part of my beloved club," he commented. 

In addition to coach Roberta Perillier and Rebecca, ten other athletes from Mais Querido will defend the Brazilian national team in 2018. Gabriela Regly, Giovana Stephan, Jaddy Milla, Juliana Damico, Jullia Catharino, Laura Micucci, Lorena Molinos, Maria Clara Lobo, Maria Eduarda Micucci and Renan Alcântara were called up and will represent Flamengo in international competitions.
