Red-blacks win five medals for Brazil at the Synchro Open

The team won two silver medals and three bronze medals in the competition.

The Brazilian national team has reached the podium five times at the Brazil Synchro Open, always with at least one Flamengo representative. On Friday (May 16.05), Brazil won silver in the combined routine event, while Flamengo's team took fourth place in the national and club competition in the same event. In the technical duet, Brazil won bronze with Flamengo athlete Giovana Stephan. She performed "gothic rock" alongside her partner, the same theme as their debut as a Brazilian Olympic duo at the South American Sports Games in March of this year. The Flamengo player emphasized that Brazil's dominance on the continent is a differentiator.

"Brazil is the leader in South America and we have an obligation, so to speak, to win. When countries that are in the top tier of synchronized swimming in the world participate, it helps us, it boosts our performance," he said.

On Saturday (May 17.05), Brazil took bronze in the free team event. In the free duet, again with Giovana in the pool, the team won another bronze. On Sunday (May 18.05), the last day of the Synchro Open, the second silver medal came in the free team event.

The competition, created and organized by the Brazilian Aquatic Sports Confederation (CBDA), brings together Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine, Italy, Colombia, and Peru, as well as athletes from eight Brazilian states. Considering the 16 athletes training with the national team, Flamengo has six, the team with the most representatives. The athletes are now preparing for the Spain Synchro in June.
