With two red-and-black athletes on the team, Brazil secured its first final at the World Junior Synchronized Swimming Championships. Their spot came in the combined free routine event. With 80.600 points in the qualifying round, the girls secured their spot with a ninth-place finish. The championship continues until Sunday (August 03.08) in Helsinki, Finland.

Without needing the figures event score for the final result, the Combo team already had its twelve finalists determined in this morning's qualifying round. This time, unlike the free team competition, Brazil finished behind their direct rivals, the Mexicans, who totaled 81.166 points.

"The difference in points between them (Brazil and Mexico) is small, and we can reverse that in the final. The Brazilian combo's choreography is a fun circus ride and draws attention to its plasticity. We have a fun and light routine, which characterizes the youth of the junior category well. We think this can also make a difference in the judges' scores, and we have good expectations for this final," commented Mônica Rosas, coordinator of the Synchronized Swimming teams.

The combo final is scheduled for Sunday, the last day of competition. The team final, also featuring Brazil, will be this Saturday.
