Flamengo's artistic swimming athletes are already training at full steam after the Pan American Championships. Of the eleven swimmers who represented the Brazilian National Team in the competition last week, eight were from Flamengo. Now back at the club, Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Gabriela Regly, Maria Clara Lobo, Maria Eduarda Miccuci, Laura Miccuci, Jullia Catharino, Renan Alcântara, and coach Roberta Perillier join the rest of the red-and-black team preparing for the most important tournament of the year: the Brazilian Championship.

With the competition taking place in December at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro just months away, the athletes are already focusing on another title. In 2017, Flamengo was the tournament's standout team, winning gold in every Senior category event. Lorena Molinos and Duda Miccuci won the Technical Duet, while Renan Alcântara and Giovana Stephan won the Mixed Duet, as well as the Team title. 

In addition to the Brazilian Championship, the red-blacks also have another important commitment with the National Team, the South American Aquatic Sports Championship, which will be held between October 30th and November 3rd, in the city of Trujillo, Peru. 

Bronze in the Free Team event and silver in the Technical Team at the Pan-American Games, the red-black Duda Miccuci explained the team's routine leading up to the competitions.

"Since these two competitions are so close and so important, we're having to split our training between the national team and the club. So, we're training three times a week for Flamengo and four times a week with the national team, doubling up on Saturday," the athlete added.

"In these first few weeks, we're making some changes to the choreography. Since our goal is to win the South American Championship by improving our score, these adjustments are essential, as it will be our last competition this year and will prepare us for next year's Pan American and World Championships," said Duda. "As for Flamengo, we're finishing up our choreography. Since we had the Rio de Janeiro Technical Routine Tournament in June, most of the technical choreography is already ready, and the focus now is to finish building the free routines with the goal of becoming Brazilian champion, not only in the events themselves, but overall as well."

In the Carioca, held in the Tijuca Tennis Club pool, Mais Querido won a total of 13 medals, including eight gold, three silver and two bronze.
