The storm that hit Rio de Janeiro last Monday didn't just cause problems at Maracanã and Marcanãzinho. The Júlio Delamare Aquatic Park, located in the Maracanã sports complex, was also hit, disrupting the Brazilian synchronized swimming team's training. However, the team contacted Flamengo to get things started this Wednesday and received prompt assistance.
The national team already trained at the Gávea headquarters on Tuesday and Thursday, but also used the Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park on Wednesday. The group is training for the Rome Open, which will be held between June 10th and 13th, and includes seven Flamengo athletes: Giovana Stephan, Lorena Molinos, Micheli Frota, Josiane Martins, Daniella Figueiredo, Gabriella Figueiredo, and Mariana Eduarda Pereira.
Rubro-negro is also represented on the technical committee with coach Maura Xavier, assistant coach Roberta Perillier and physical trainer Carlos Alexandre Assis.
In addition to the Rome Open, the team will also face the Spanish Championship and the Fina Cup, considered the most important of the year. The latter will be held in China from September 16th to 19th.
