It's Mariana Brochado's turn to once again showcase her potential to the world. After shining in 2004, where she achieved one of the highest points of her career by achieving the best technical index for a Brazilian team at the Athens Olympic Games in the 4x200m freestyle relay, securing seventh place, it's time for her to fight for a spot among the select group that will represent Brazil in Beijing.

Starting at 18 p.m. this Wednesday (7/5), the swimming muse will take part in the Maria Lenk Trophy – Correios Cup, which will be held between the 6th and 11th, in Rio de Janeiro. The qualifiers will begin at 18 p.m. and the finals, scheduled for Thursday, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Maria Lenk Trophy, formerly the Brazil Trophy, will be the last chance for athletes to obtain the necessary qualifications for the Beijing Olympic Games in August.

Mariana will face a major challenge. She will attempt to qualify for the Olympic standard in the 200m and 400m freestyle, her specialty.

Disciplined, determined, and with potential that would make many athletes envious, the swimmer has everything it takes to secure a spot in the biggest sports competition in the world. For coach Marco Lamah, who trains Mariana twice a day (morning and afternoon), her current conditions are favorable: "Mariana has been training very focused and has everything she needs to secure this spot."
