The dream of representing Brazil in the 200m freestyle event during the Beijing Olympic Games came to an end for the red-and-black Mariana Brochado.

Yesterday, in the 200m freestyle heats, the athlete didn't perform well. With a time of 2:06:63, Mariana failed to achieve the necessary time to qualify for the Olympics.

Now, the Brazilian swimming icon will try to secure a spot in the 400m freestyle. Today, starting at 18 p.m., the qualifying rounds for the event will take place.

- “She didn’t do well in this stage, but we still have a chance of securing a good placement in the 400m freestyle,” revealed coach Marco Lamah.
