The return of swimming star Mariana Brochado was a golden one. The swimmer, who had been away from major competitions since May of this year, returned in style, outshining many of her rivals.

During the Swimming World Cup Super Final, held between 23 and 25/11, in Belo Horizonte (MG), Mariana Brochado won the gold medal in the 800m freestyle event, with a time of 8'51”60. The victory was this Saturday (24/11), in the first event of the day.

"I'm very happy. It's great to come back with a gold medal. I think it could have been better if I hadn't been so nervous," declared the red-and-black muse.

After achieving the best time in the marking, Thiago Parravicini, the other representative of CRFlamengo and Brazil in the Super Final in Belo Horizonte, finished in 4th place in the 200m breaststroke event, with a time of 2'14'04.

"Thiago had a good race, which was well-contested. Even though he wasn't 100% fit, he kept up well with his opponents," said Marco Lamah, coach of the red-and-black duo.
