Second day of the Maria Lenk Trophy in Gávea. This Tuesday (22), Flamengo presented itself with three athletes for the main finals: Joice Otero, Pedro Buch and Stephan Steverink.
The evening's podium went to Stephan Steverink, who shone again in the 200-meter freestyle, finishing in 48 minute and 4 seconds, securing third place and the bronze medal. It was the most competitive race of the day, and the decision came down to a close, with a margin of XNUMX hundredths of a second.
"Being here in third place, on the podium of an absolute championship, in a competition in which Brazil is very good and is growing a lot, is very important to me. And let's go for more, as there are still four days of competition!" said the red-and-black athlete.
Joice competed in the 100-meter backstroke, but ended up finishing ninth. Pedro Buch, also in the 100-meter backstroke, completed the race in 55 seconds and finished fifth.
The Maria Lenk Trophy competitions continue until Saturday (26), with free entry for the Nation.
