One of the highlights of the red-black swimming team, Thiago Parravicini returned this week from Italy, where he competed in the Italian Open and helped his Italian team, Dimensione Dello Sport, DDS, to reach the podium.

The team competition took place on May 25th in Rome. Thiago completed four events in less than 12 hours.

Thiago, a breaststroke specialist, was called up to join the Italian team that had no representatives in the category and achieved the best times of his career.

With dual citizenship, the Italian-Brazilian competed in the 50 (29”50), 100 (1'03”73) and 200m breaststroke (2'18”64) events and the 4x100m medley relay.

"It was great to be able to collaborate with the team. Everyone swam very well and prevented DDS from being relegated to the 2nd division, which is what happened to the last two qualifying clubs."

Having been unable to train properly for nearly two months due to bursitis in his left shoulder, Thiago faces a new challenge. The Flamengo player will compete in the Brazilian Junior Swimming Championships – 24th Tancredo Neves Trophy, which will be held at the Julio de Lamare Aquatic Park from June 1st to 3rd.

After the Brazilian Championship, Thiago will likely be out for a while to recover from his shoulder injury, which has caused him renewed concern.
