The CBDA (Brazilian Confederation of Aquatic Sports) will hold the Brazilian Absolute Men's and Women's Water Polo Championships. The first phase of the men's competition will begin this Friday at the Esporte Clube Pinheiros pool in São Paulo.

The Brazilian Absolute Championship will bring together, from October to December, two major existing Brazilian competitions—the Correios Cup and the João Havelange Trophy—which will become, respectively, the first and second phases of the new Brazilian Absolute Championship. The competitions will have different prizes, but the winning team in the second phase will also receive the Brazilian Absolute Water Polo Champion Trophy. For the first phase, the Correios Cup, the teams were divided into two groups (A and B). This weekend, the first and second round matches will be held at the Pinheiros pool.

The Correios Cup will be played until November 20th for both men and women. The women's competition will begin on November 15th. The top six finishers in the men's competition will advance to the next stage, the João Havelange Trophy, which will be held from November 30th to December 11st in Rio de Janeiro.
