Flamengo reached the final of the State Youth Water Polo Championship after defeating their main rivals, but ended up finishing as runners-up. The match was against Tijuca, who played in their own pool, and ended 9-4 (2-0 / 3-0 / 2-1 / 2-3).

The red-black team, led by coach Antonio Canetti, only reacted in the last quarter of the game, the only one won by the team from Gávea.

Iágaro and Nicolas, who scored 1 and 3 goals respectively, were the championship's top scorers, along with Bernardo, from Tijuca.

"Unfortunately, my strong point, the goalkeeper, wasn't very good and didn't catch the balls he usually does. Tijuca marked my shooters, Iágaro and Lucas, well. It was a good learning experience for me, so I can train the team for situations like this in the future."
