The Brazilian Youth Men's Water Polo Cup kicked off on Wednesday night (May 28th), with ten teams competing for the championship title. The competitions, which were initially scheduled to take place at the Fluminense pool, were moved to the Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park, at the Gávea headquarters.

Flamengo, led by coach Antonio Canetti, delivered a stunning 15-0 thrashing (4-0 / 2-0 / 5-0 / 4-0) over Guanabara, Flamengo's first opponent in the competition. The red-black team's goals were scored by Matheus Vaz (7), Felipe (2), Daniel (2), Rafael (1), Lucas (1), Marllos (1) and Pedro Cardoso (1).

The ten participating Clubs were divided into Group A (Fluminense, Pinheiros, Botafogo, Paineiras do Morumby and Jundiaiense) and Group B (Flamengo, Paulistano, Guanabara, Tijuca Tênis and Sesi/SP).
