With a tradition of victories in the sport, the Canetti family will be a major reinforcement for the Brazilian women's Water Polo team that will be in action at the XV Pan American Games Rio-2007.
The CBDA (Brazilian Aquatic Sports Confederation) announced this Thursday the preliminary selection of the Brazilian men's and women's national teams. There are 30 names in total, 15 for each.
Flamengo will not have any representatives in the men's group. However, the women's group will have three true Flamengo players, as well as the talent and versatility of goal scorer Marina Zablith.
Manuela (goalkeeper), Marina (marker), and Cecília (center) make up the Canetti trio. The three are daughters of the red-and-black coach Antonio Canetti and have already secured countless titles for CRFlamengo.
The next challenge for the Brazilian women's team and the Canetti sisters will be in California, USA. The group will travel on June 12th and will be in intensive training mode. The Brazilians will also have two practice matches against the American senior team and two against the United States junior team.\ \ By order of the COB, the final list of each team participating in the Pan American Games will be sent by the CBDA by June 10th. Brazil's debut at the Rio 2007 Pan American Games will be on July 14th, at 18:XNUMX p.m., against Canada. The Water Polo matches will be at the Júlio de Lamare Aquatic Park, in the Maracanã Sports Complex.\
