It's been months of waiting, but the first state-level challenge of the year is about to begin. The first Regatta of the 2007 State Rowing Championship will be held this Sunday, the 9th, on the tracks of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, the venue for the rowing competitions at the 2007th Pan American Games Rio-XNUMX.

Flamengo, who won last year's championship, is ready to face the upcoming challenges. The State Rowing Championship will feature the participation of the top clubs, and unlike previous years, the 2007 State Championship will have only four stages: September 9th, October 9st, November 21th, and December 10th.

Flamengo holds a total of 46 state titles and will rely on the determination of strong and experienced rowers to secure its 47th state rowing title. Thiago Gomes, José Carlos Sobral, Thiago Almeida, and Leandro Loureiro, rowers who were part of the Brazilian national team during the Rio 2007 Pan American Games, will be in contention for medals.

The quartet will represent the lightweight Four Without boat. Thiago Gomes will have a dual responsibility. In addition to competing in the Four Without event, the red-and-black will be defending the Senior A Skiff.
