Having gathered since January, when training for the Beijing Olympic Games began, the rowers who make up the Brazilian team will be concentrated at the CBR (Brazilian Rowing Confederation) headquarters until they enter the Olympic Village on August 3. It will be seven months of intense training.
In addition to the training sessions, held daily at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, CBR is planning a 45-day period in Europe, including training and participation in two stages of the sport's World Cup.
"We're going to pit our athletes against potential Olympic opponents. It will help them get into the rhythm of competition," said the Brazilian team's technical coordinator, Julio Noronha.
The trip is scheduled for April 18th. It's worth remembering that CRFlamengo will be represented in Beijing by rowers Thiago Gomes and Thiago Almeida, both in the lightweight Double Sculls.
