Saturday will be a day of excitement and decision-making at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. The Debut Eight Race will begin at 9 a.m., valid for the 4th Regatta of the 2007 State Rowing Championship, which has been suspended by order of the Superior Court of Sports Justice.
So far, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is leading the Championship with 250 points. Vasco, which held the lead until the last Regata, is right behind with 249 points.
If the red-and-black team wins the race, it will be officially declared the 2007 state champion. Otherwise, it will have to await a ruling from the Superior Court of Justice (STJD) regarding the Dois Com race, which is valid for the 2nd Regatta and is currently sub-judice. According to the red-and-black team's legal department, the hearing is scheduled for January 15th.
One thing is certain: fierce competition, emotion and a lot of determination will be on display next Saturday, December 22nd.
