FlaRemo wins the overall and Paralympic titles of the Brazilian Short Boat Championship
With 10 gold medals and 23 medals in total, Rubro-Negro shines on the USP track and reaffirms its hegemony in national rowing

Flamengo continues to dominate Brazilian waters. From April 8th to 13th, the red-and-black team competed in the Brazilian Short Boat Championship, held at the traditional USP Race Course in São Paulo, and emerged with the overall champion and Paralympic champion trophies. In total, 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 6 bronze medals were won, totaling 23 podiums in different categories — from under-19 to the absolute, including the Paralympic.
This year's edition marks a departure from the previous format. In 2024, the Brazilian Short and Long Boat Championships were unified. In 2025, the Brazilian Rowing Confederation separated the tournaments: the short boats were contested now, in April, while the long boats will be decided at the end of the season. Flamengo was the overall champion of last year's unified edition and now begins the new phase with another significant title.
For Ronald Carvalho, president of Flamengo's Rowing Committee, the performance was a cause for celebration, but it also served as a warning of the need for reinforcements in the youth teams.
"This weekend we had the Brazilian Short Boat Championship and we were champions by a very large margin. Flamengo won ten, Corinthians won three, which finished second, and Botafogo won two. So it's something to celebrate, every victory is something to celebrate. But it also exposed some weaker teams. We have to work on the youth teams a little more," he said.
With an eye on the Brazilian Longboat Championship, which takes place at the end of the year, Ronald emphasized that work with young athletes will be intensified. According to him, the first months of the new administration have already brought significant progress, and the expectation is that the results will also be reflected on the international stage.
"We watched two important championships—the state championship, where we hadn't won the first regatta like we did in a long time. It was also a disparity: nine wins for Flamengo and two for our opponents. We've only been in office for three months. So we intend to improve a lot more. But it was a spectacular victory."
