The Brazilian Interclub Championship for Young Talents began this Thursday afternoon (28) at the Mais Querido Nautical Headquarters in Gávea. Over the course of four days, 265 rowers up to 18 years old will take to the waters of the always stunning Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to compete in the largest youth championship of the sport. Flamengo has the largest delegation in the tournament, with 36 rowers wearing the Macaquinho Sagrado (Sacred Macaquinho). Interestingly, three Uruguayan teams are participating in the competition as guests.

Marcelo Freitas, Water Sports Manager at Mais Querido, spoke about the importance of the competition.

"The CBI Remo Jovens Talentos 2024, the main grassroots event in Brazilian rowing, is the gateway for future champions! Traditionally held in Porto Alegre by Grêmio Náutico União, this edition is hosted by Flamengo due to the heavy rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul. The Mais Querido is the current five-time champion of the event and will fight for the title another year. The highlight of the red-and-black team is rower Jeniffer de Almeida, currently 5th in the last Junior World Championship, held in August, in Canada, in the single-skiff event," he concluded.

The qualifying rounds will continue through Friday (29). At the weekend, Saturday (30) and Sunday (1), the tournament finals will begin, always from 9 am to 11:30 am.
