With glorious careers in the sport practiced since their childhood, twins Cláudia and Kátia Alencar, rowing athletes for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, gave sad news to their teammates and admirers of the sport.

On the eve of the 2007th Pan American Games Rio XNUMX, both decided to dedicate themselves to activities other than daily training at Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. The rowers were even selected by the Brazilian Rowing Confederation (CBR) to compete in the Rio Pan American Games, but after encountering several obstacles, they were cut from the Brazilian team.

They are fierce, dedicated, talented, and effective. After 13 years rowing for CR Flamengo, Kátia and Cláudia have won eight state and Brazilian championships and also hold the title of South American champions.

They even held the position of captain of the Oito boat, a traditionally male event, in addition to achieving success in the other crews that compete in the lanes of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

At the age of 36, the twins are true examples of overcoming obstacles in sport and in their personal lives.
