The new Olympic cycle has begun, and with it, FlaCanoagem is ready to hit the water. From May 16th to 18th, Isaquias Queiroz will compete in the Szeged, Hungary, stage of the Canoe World Cup—the sport's first international tournament since the Paris Games and a milestone in the run-up to Los Angeles 2028.

Brazil's greatest Olympic medalist among men, with five podium finishes in three editions (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024), Isaquias begins the competition this Friday (16) in the individual C1 1000m and C1 500m events. The big news, however, will be on Saturday (17): the red-black canoeist will compete in the C2 500m event - a new Olympic category that will be introduced at the Los Angeles 2028 Games - alongside Gabriel Nascimento, also an athlete from Flamengo.

Isaquias emphasized the importance of the competition, which also serves as preparation for the World Cup in August. "I trained hard. Of course, the goal is the World Cup. But I came to the World Cup prepared; I want to leave Hungary with a medal around my neck. It's very important to win here to arrive in August feeling confident. I hope to count on the entire Red-Black Nation to send that positive energy that only they can," he concluded.

In addition to partnering with Isaquias in the C2 500m, Gabriel Nascimento will also compete in the C1 500m this Thursday and the C4 500m on Saturday (17).
