Isaquias Queiroz plays for Flamengo. The athlete renewed his contract and will continue to defend the Manto for another stage of his journey as one of the greatest medalists in Brazilian Olympic history. The canoeist, who is in Campinas, where he represents the club at the CBC Expo, expressed his satisfaction at remaining with the club, highlighted the affection he receives from the red-and-black fans, and is already planning to pursue new achievements by 2028.

"Renewing my contract wasn't difficult; it was very smooth. I'm very happy, and I thank Flamengo for believing in my potential again. My goal is to go to Los Angeles in 2028 to fight for a medal. I'm back training, in shape, and dedicated. I really want to reach the Olympic Games representing Flamengo and the entire Red-Black Nation, who treats me with special care. I'm very happy when I receive affection from the Red-Black fans on the street. With faith in God, I'm with Flamengo until 2028, aiming for my sixth, perhaps even my seventh, Olympic medal," he stated.

At 31, Isaquias has already built a storied career in canoeing. In his Olympic debut at Rio 2016, he made history by winning three medals in a single edition of the Games, becoming the first Brazilian to achieve such a feat: silver in the C1 1000m, bronze in the C1 200m, and another silver in the C2 1000m, alongside Erlon de Souza. 

At Tokyo 2020, he cemented his reputation among the sport's greatest by winning gold in the C1 1000m. At the Paris 2024 Games, he was Brazil's flag bearer at the opening ceremony and secured the silver medal in the C1 1000m, in a typical red-and-black sprint, tying Torben Grael and Robert Scheidt as the Brazilians with the most Olympic podium finishes in history. 

Isaquias's renewal is part of the club's strategic plan to retain its top Olympic athletes. Flamengo's Director of Olympic Sports, Marcus Vinicius Freire, emphasized the importance of continuing the project.

"One of the Olympic Sports Board's goals at the beginning of this year was to renew our six Olympic medalists. Rafa and the gymnastics girls have already been announced. Now, we've confirmed Isaquias' renewal. Our six medalists remain at Flamengo," he concluded.
